Hello And A Warm Welcome To Everyone!

The Rotary Club of Nanaimo North was spearheaded by Bruce Coleman and sponsored by the Rotary Club of Nanaimo. We were chartered by Rotary International on October 15, 1972.

We are strong supporters of youth both locally and internationally.

Over the past ten Rotary years The Rotary Club of Nanaimo North has donated more than $413,000 in our community and beyond as follows:

  • More than $222,000 to a broad range of community groups and projects (Community Literacy, Heart and Stroke Foundation, Big Brothers and Big Sisters, Boys and Girls Club, Nanaimo Food Share, Nanaimo Museum, Haven House and many, many others).
  • More than $71,000 for various international aid projects (Disaster Assistance, Water Projects, Aids Orphans etc)
  • $81,000 for Scholarships to School District 68 and VIU
  • More than $39,000 for various Youth initiatives (Rotary International Student Exchanges, Rotary Youth Leadership Assemblies, Adventures in Citizenship etc etc)

As a club we are involved in international projects supporting youth through:

  • International Student Exchange
  • Sunyani, Ghana education, health, water & sanitation projects
  • Ndandini, Kenya water projects
  • The Etta Projects in Bolivia

Locally we are involved in:

  • The Interact Club of Nanaimo
  • Rotary Youth Leadership Assembly, RYLA
  • Scholarships for High School and Vancouver Island University Students
  • A monthly Community Breakfast at the Salvation Army New Hope Centre
  • A monthly food sorting shift at Loaves & Fishes Food Bank
  • Running the Beer garden at the annual Dragon Boat Festival, raising funds for breast cancer diagnostics

This year we will emphasize sharing Rotary with youth through our continued support of the above international and local projects as well as considering new possibilities.

I look forward to working with all of you through out the coming year, participating in the Sharing Of Rotary with others and Sharing Rotary With Youth to make this a better place to live - one little bit at a time to continue the immense impact Rotary has on the lives of others in our World today.

I welcome all visiting Rotarians and encourage members of our community to join us for a time of fellowship and to learn more about the sharing of Rotary by visiting our Club on Tuesday night. Our meetings are held at the beautiful Nanaimo Golf Club.
