Harbour City Bingo
There are some changes to the process, as in 2013 we didn't need to send a rep to the AGM, but now we do and it needs to
be a rotarian on their list. As our President Lee went to this years AGM as our rep we need to file the paperwork in order for us to
complete our obilgations.

Larry Rumming Membership - Larry has now had two meetings with some of the other local clubs with regard to membership and there is a special project coming up that he is going to share with the club members. So stay tuned.......
Paul - Youth Exchange - This year our Club is hosting Daniel and Lantzville Club is hosting Seiko. He also mentioned that there will be
2 outbound students from Nanaimo area next year and the process of how they were picked. Sounds like its a real art to choosing students
and deciding which countries they are best suited. Such a wonderful opportunity!
Colin Heasley - Vocational Talk
These talks are amazing! Colin was born in the northern area of New Zealand and interestly enough that his town's sister city was Duncan on Vancouver Island. His father was a banker and a Rotarian! He started in the travel business and worked in New Zealand for The Union Steamship Company in Wellington which dealt in mostly cargo although Colin was worked in the passenger part of it. Cute story of Colin calling one of the ships a 'boat'. He was told that "boats" hang of the sided of ships. Colin had some very interesting experiences working there and also share
a story of the ship "Wahine" that sunk and 50 people didn't survive. He also saw the transition of cargo developing into a very lucrative business.
In 1970 he came to Duncan and worked in a travel agency, untill 1989 when he went to work for BCAA Travel and managed the branch for 20 years until they closed down and then worked at a Travel Agency at Brooks Landing and then worked back for BCAA a year before he retired in Sept 2014. Colin and Lynnette married in 1975 and have a daughter that lives in Nanaimo. Colin loves Vintage Cars and surfing and is still very involved in both! He even spent three years writing a book that didn't get published, but really enjoyed the process. Lynnette believes it wasn't published as it didn't have enough sex in it! Colin joined Rotary in Duncan in 1980 and moved to Nanaimo in 1992 and thanks to Bruce Coleman joined our club, where he collected money from members for the Foundation , every week! Thanks so much to Colin for sharing his interesting life and great stories including the flight from hell and it truly was!
