Speaker - Robert Grose  'EDEN GARDENS"

Eden is the new Travellers lodge Dementia facility being built on Northfield Rd.  Robert shared some very interesting stats with regard to Dementia.  Dementia is on the rise and by 2038 it is estimated that over one million Canadians will be affected. In the mid island area over 5000 people over 85 will have been diagnosed with dementia. Also 1 of 5 baby boomers and women are 2:1 over men.
This new facility which will open in April of 2017 will have 130 rooms and the design is amazing and will be a home like enviroment of small neighbourhoods with public and private areas. Eden will also offer Day Care for Elders which will be great to give Caregivers some well needed rest. Robert showed two Videos, one on the breaking ground and getting the building started and the other which showed some of the Elders and their families enjoying life at Travellers Lodge.  Such a wonderful facility for Nanaimo to have. The building they are in now is also for sale if anyone is interested.
They are looking to achieve $2 million dollars in donations, so if you or your organization are interested, please contact 250-760-2646. The Club had lots of questions at the end of the presentation!

HAVE A WONDERFUL WEEK!
