Colin's Rotary Foundation Minute:
GROUP STUDY EXCHANGE
One of the most popular and rewarding programs of The Rotary Foundation used to be Group Study Exchange. Starting with an exchange between Clubs in California and Japan in 1965, the program provided educational experiences for about 25,000 business and professional men and women in about 5,500 teams. The GSE program paired Rotary districts to send and receive study teams. Since 1965, more than $42 million was allocated by The Rotary Foundation for Group Study Exchange grants. GSE gave the opportunity for the visiting team members to meet, talk and live with Rotarians and their families in a warm spirit of friendship and hospitality in addition to learning about another country. While teams visited farms, schools, industrial plants, professional offices and governmental establishments they also served as ambassadors of goodwill. Many of the personal contacts blossom into lasting friendships. Sadly this program was discontinued in 2013.

Program: Radek introduced our speaker who actually needed no introduction. Sheila talked about the car trip which she and Pat and Dexter ( the dog) took to Mexico, where they usually spend January and February. They left December 29, 2022 and returned March 12, 2023. There were several reasons to take this 11,000 km trip but she and Pat agree that they will not be doing it again!.
