By Zoom. Hopefully our last!
Colin's History and Rotary Minute:
The 1978/79 year started with a talk on Pigeons! Rotarian of the year was Jim Turley. The District 502 conference was in Nanaimo with 1200 delegates. In 1979/80 we held a Bavarian beer garden that was rained out. It took the club five years to get rid of all the beer steins! Bert Labonte was the President and Mike Mah was the Rotarian of the year.

Program:
Bill Grace introduced our speaker. She was none other than our own Chelsea Marshall. Her presentation was on the Port Alberni Association of Community Living where she works as a vocational counsellor.
Chelsea had all sorts of interesting details about the issues of workplace diversity and inclusion. The goals for employers are to develop a sustainable workforce, create a positive workplace culture, attract talent and to enhance the company brand by increasing the diversity of customers.
Embracing this concept is not only the right thing to do but also the right thing to do for your business.
Chelsea Marshall
Thanks Chelsea - great presentation!

We also had a second presentation this week. Libby and Greg spoke about one of the projects their club has undertaken. Since Covid has negatively impacted many of the international projects, their club is fundraising for low income country Covid vaccinations. They pointed out that not only is Covid itself an issue but it has also slowed or halted many of the programs that would benefit these countries.
