Meeting: April 19th, 2020
Via Zoom.
Colin's History Minute (86-87)
Bill Purdy was president in 86-87. A BBQ, a halloween dance, a fishing derby, a western dance and bingos made up some of the activities.
Ken Finley was president in 87-88. The club raffle of a Honda car was the major fund raiser. Polio Plus was ramping up with our club donating $20,000.
Announcements
- Jim spoke about the upcoming garage sale at the German Hall on May 14th with setup the previous day. The Rotary breakfast was scheduled to be on the same day but we will now be doing the breakfast on the 28th.
- Deb reminded us that the Earth Day cleanup will be this Saturday at 9:50 at the bypass at Northfield.
- Larry let us know that the Rotary shirts had not arrived yet but he was hopeful that they will be here for the Earth Day event.
- Paul brought up the motion for the Bolivian health program. (the Etta Projects that we have been involved with previously). We would be contributing $1,500 of $70,000 to provide education to villagers so that they can supply emergency health care. This money will actually come out as an advance next years international budget. The motion was carried.
Birthdays:
- Paul on April 20th and Gill April on 24th
Anniversaries:
Membership Anniversaries
Points to Ponder:
There is a fine line between a numerator and a denominator.
(only a fraction of people will find this funny).
Program:
The program tonight was given by our own Rob Waine. He and Barbara had the good fortune to visit friends in Korea which enabled them to see sights from a more local perspective. There were many (!) interesting stories and pictures. A number of them featured food which left us all hungry. I think there were several members that made an addition to their bucket list as well.
Thanks Rob, a great topic and very well done. Thanks!
