Jim advised that the Fund Raising Committee had met last night and our next Garage Sale will be September 9, hopefully at the same location. We had inquiries about the Sale being extended over Sunday and will consider that if there are enough volunteers.
There will be a Beer and Burger night on November 7 at Piper's Pub.
Also being considered is a Hoop-A- Thon fundraiser, which has been a successful fundraiser for Vancouver Sunrise for over 10 years.- details to follow.
We are looking into providing breakfasts at Samaritan House, a joint venture with Lantzville.
Troy confirmed that the Hospital Breakfast was a great success and the hospital staff were very appreciative.
Ed advised that he and Bob would be putting together workparties to finish the work at Hospice House.
Derek reported on the Silly Boat race.
Troy updated us on RYLA - for those who don't know it is the Rotary Youth Leadership Awards and is Rotary's leadership training program for young people. Oficially adopted by RI in 1971 it is one of the most significant and fastest growing programs of Rotary Service. For the Island youth the leadership training will be held at CAMP QWANOES in Crofton on the weekend of October 27/28/29. Derek introduce Greg Devenish, President of the Rotary Club of Lanzville and passionate proponent of the Vancouver Island Military Museum.
Greg talked about the museum, its displays and the local history.
