Guest: Jenie Roque.

February is Peace and Conflict Prevention Month.

ROTARY PEACE PROGRAMS
A special program of The Rotary Foundation was originally labeled the "Rotary Peace Forum". The concept of a center or educational program to promote greater understanding and peace in the world was originally discussed in 1982 by the New Horizons Committee and the World Understanding and Peace Committee. In 1984 it was further explored by a New Programs Committee of The Rotary Foundation.
The essence of the Rotary Peace Program is to utilize the non-governmental but worldwide resources of Rotary to develop educational programs around the issues that cause conflict among nations in the world as well as those influences and activities which promote peace, development and goodwill. The program includes seminars, publications or conferences as a means to initiate a global dialogue to find new approaches to peace and world understanding.

Arsenii & Liubov Nazarenko-Miliohlova - Maple Deer Entertainment

Arseniy Nazarenko is the founder and creative director of Maple Deer Entertainment, a Canadian creative studio based in Nanaimo. He and his family arrived in Canada from Ukraine three years ago and now call Nanaimo home.

Arseniy has over 20 years of experience in the international game industry as a designer, producer, and creative lead. Together with his wife, Liubov Nazarenko, producer and co-founder, he is building a family-led studio focused on meaningful, community-oriented storytelling. One of their core projects is Strong Roots, a children’s book series written by Liubov’s mother, Valentyna Miliohlova, a Ukrainian grandmother and author.

The first book in the series has already been published in Canada. They related how their migration journey led to the creation of a Canadian storytelling studio, and how their first children’s book project grew into a community initiative supporting children, families, and cultural connection.

They asked to share with our members an invitation to their upcoming Ukrainian Cultural Art Dinner Event.
