Birthdays:

Frank Allen,  Doug Pearson

Anniversaries:

Jim Turley - 45 years of Rotary!

Points of View:

The problem with political jokes is that they sometimes get elected.

Program:
Derek introduced the program for the night.  A Rotarian from our club, Perry Williams, was the speaker.  Perry and his wife Ronda love travel and photography.  Together, they have been to 87 countries.

Perry's topic was their recent safari to Kenya and Tanzania in January.  A good month to visit for green scenery and young animals.  Kenya has a series of National Parks and they have added conservancies to help join them together.  The conservancies consist of lands owned (mostly) by the Maasai people who, instead of developing them, have allowed them to be turned into wildlife sanctuaries.  The tourists that visit have a small part of their fee used to compensate the Maasai for their land.  Kenya benefits from the tourism, the tourists benefit from the wonderful scenery and best of all, the preservation of habitat benefits the animals.
Anyone that might be thinking of such a trip is welcome to give them a call.
