Stories
BREW uses fellowship to help provide clean water

With Moses Aryee, Past President of the Rotary Club of Accra-West Ghana &  a founding member of the BREW (Beers Rotarians Enjoy Worldwide) Fellowship.
I first met Moses at the 2013 convention in Lisbon when he was gathering support to create the BREW Fellowship (www.rotarybrew.org) .  Since water is the main ingredient of beer, BREW has pledged to help bring clean water to the world.  Last year in Atlanta and again this year in Toronto, BREW donated 25% of its membership revenue to WASRAG (Water and Sanitation Rotary Action Group).

BREW is also building a campaign to solicit sponsorships from breweries in support of clean water projects, following the example of Stella Artois which donated $1.2 million to water.org.
Foam coasters with the Rotary Four Way Beer Test.

Rotary Local Lager launched by the Wellington Brewery in partnership with the Rotary Club of Guelph and the Rotary Club of Peterborough.

Launched as a three-year project with the possibility to continue it further, Rotary Local Lager will be available at Beer Store locations in both cities, as well as directly from the brewery for Rotary events. 50 cents from each can sold will be donated to Rotary, with 10 cents allocated specifically to Rotary International water projects.
The cans feature the Rotary International logo with the organization’s principles list on the back.

Kevin Duguay, a director of BREW and member of the Rotary Club of Peterborough says he came up with the idea several years ago and had to receive approval from Rotary International to proceed with a fundraiser. Initially, Duguay worked with Publican Brewery in Peterborough but when demand couldn’t be met, he teamed with the Rotary Club of Guelph and Wellington Brewery to reach both markets.
