Colin's Rotary Minute:

ROTARY AND THE UNITED NATIONS
During and after World War II, Rotarians became increasingly involved in promoting international understanding. In 1945, 49 Rotary members served in 29 delegations to the United Nations Charter Conference. Rotary still actively participates in UN conferences by sending observers to major meetings and promoting the United Nations in Rotary publications. Rotary International's relationship with the United Nations Educational, Scientific, and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) dates back to a 1943 London Rotary conference that promoted international cultural and educational exchanges. Attended by ministers of education and observers from around the world, and chaired by a past president of RI, the conference was an impetus to the establishment of UNESCO in 1946.

SeeCan Project
Paul has purchased a 40' container, which has been to be delivered and is being filled.filling  Since he needed a new condition container,  he shopped around and found that the local BigSteelBox franchise had competitive prices and availability. Paul spoke to their manager, explained what we will be using the container for, and asked if there might be a discount for charitable purposes.  With a letter from President Cara, his management team approved a $1,000 discount, and waived the delivery fee (up to $600 value).  Total cost with taxes $7,386.40.  We'll want to be sure to recognize their in-kind donation publicly.
Payment has been made from the funds which we were holding for the project.

Program:
Jaydeen Williams - Take A Hike Foundation
Empowering Youth. Changing Lives.

Take a Hike has supported over 2,000 youth experiencing vulnerability to change the trajectory of their lives. Our alumni are living proof that youth who have endured past adversity and negative impacts on their development can thrive through engaging in social emotional learning and personal reflection if they experience an environment that is safe, caring, and responsive to their individual needs.

The deep sense of belonging and community they found, along with the physical and mental well being it fostered, gave them lasting coping mechanisms they continue to lean on as they navigate life’s challenges long after their time at Take a Hike.
