24 members, spouse and guests attended to see and hear about the recent progress of our airport and to learn about the staff  behind the scenes and see the machines which keep the airport running.

 

Nanaimo Airport (YCD) is a not-for-profit authority owned and operated by the Nanaimo Airport Commission, committed to meeting the air transportation needs of our communities for the next generation. and create opportunities that drive regional economic development.

Our host was Dave Devana President and CEO since 2020, who talked about the progress of the airport and its potential. We also 

met Owen Burt, Manager of Airport Operations who talked about the equipment which is used to keep the airport running and safe.  Owen joined th staff in 2012 as a Technician but has progressed as the airport has grown  as trainer for operations and Fire Fighting, then Duty Manager and since 2025 in his current position. 

The equipment used to keep the airport open was impressive.

 

After our tour most of us repaired to the Crow & Gate for dinner.
