Rotary Minute

Colin lengthened the Rotary Minute to 2 minutes this evening. He spoke about gender equality in Rotary. He gave an example of a club in Germany that alternates each year with a female president followed by a male one. Seems we already have that covered for the next two Rotary years thanks to Glynis and Ian.

Announcements:

On September 14 we will be doing the Community free breakfast at the New Hope Center. Please watch for Rob's email looking for volunteers.
Our next Loaves and Fishes food sorting will be Tuesday September 24 starting at 6PM till 7:30PM.
A Wine tour of the Cowichan Valley is being planned for Saturday October 5. The trip includes bus transportation, visits with wine tasting at 5 wineries and lunch, all for 130.00 each. Lynne has 27 of the 40 seats filled so there is still room for more. Please let Lynne Hannay know asap if you are interested.
Barney gave us an update on the Ale Trail program. We were given a sheet outlining the program and what club members can do to make it a success for our club.
Thanks to the members that helped out at the Family Fun Event at Harewood park. In an hour and a half 216 burgers, 200 Hot Dogs and 500 bags of pop corn were served.

Membership Anniversaries

Perry Williams has been a member of Nanaimo North for 24 years, however he did a practicum with another club for 12 years prior to that. No wonder he is such an effective Rotarian!

Program

Dr Coupland, Dr Foster and Donna Hais presented the five year plan for NRGH that will result in Tertiary care which will provide complete services for most illness except Cardiac surgery and organ transplants. If you have not already done so please contact the Hospital Foundation off for a form letter that you can sign and have the Foundation send it to the Ministry of Health.
